DAF Trucks Australia has added the New Generation XB, XD and XF to its Australian range, joining the flagship XG and extending the line-up from urban distribution to long-haul transport.

The XG entered the Australian market in 2024. The additions give operators updated choices for city deliveries, distribution, vocational work and interstate freight.

Four models for different freight tasks

Across the four platforms, the range uses Euro 6 compliant PACCAR powertrains fitted with automated or automatic transmissions, alongside standard active safety suites including Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning System and Vehicle Stability Control.

DAF XB
Covering the urban rigid segment, the Australian XB is offered in 4×2 rigid configurations with a Day Cab or Sleeper Cab, rated from 16 to 19 tonnes GVM. Power comes from the PACCAR PX-7 multi-torque engine, delivering either 260 hp (189 kW) and 990 Nm or 290 hp (212 kW) and 1,090 Nm. Transmission options include the standard ZF PowerLine 8AP1200 eight-speed automatic unit with torque converter, with an Allison five-speed automatic or a manual transmission available as options.

DAF XD
Targeted at distribution and vocational tasks, the XD is available in 6×4, 8×4 and 8×4 low-tare rigid configurations, as well as a 6×4 prime mover (FTT) variant in Day Cab or Sleeper Cab setups. It is powered by the 10.8-litre PACCAR MX-11 multi-torque engine, offering outputs of 340 hp (251 kW) and 1,675 Nm, or 450 hp (330 kW) and 2,300 Nm. Shifting is handled by the 12-speed ZF TraXon 12TX2610 automated transmission, with an Allison 3200 six-speed automatic optional on low-tare variants.

DAF XF
Positioned for heavy vocational and regional-to-linehaul work, the XF range includes 6×4 prime mover and rigid models, plus an 8×4 rigid (FTT, FAT and FAD) with Day Cab, Sleeper Cab or Sleeper High Roof options. DAF publishes a 70,000 kg gross combination mass (GCM) rating for the XF. Power is supplied by the PACCAR MX-13 multi-torque engine rated at 530 hp (390 kW) and 2,700 Nm from 900 to 1,125 rpm, paired with a 16-speed ZF TraXon automated transmission. DAF claims service intervals of up to 200,000 km.

DAF XG
The flagship XG continues in a 6×4 FTT sleeper configuration, powered by the 15-litre PACCAR PX-15 engine producing 660 hp (485 kW) and 3,200 Nm. The driveline includes a 16-speed ZF TraXon automated transmission, Airglide 460 ECAS rear suspension and Meritor MT21-165 drive axles.

Dealer roadshow

The New Generation range is available through Australian DAF dealerships. A national dealer roadshow runs from September to December 2026, with vehicle inspections and demonstration drives. Operators can contact their nearest dealer for local dates.
