The International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show (ITTES) hosted arguably Australia’s biggest value prize pool for a truck show and shine in Australia.

With over $30,000 in cash and prizes a mixture of hardworking trucks came from across the country to be judged and claim a share of the riches.

Show & Shine organiser, Australian Custom Trucks magazine Publisher Chris Smith, said he was very grateful for the donation of prizes from many of the suppliers that exhibited at the ITTES as well as the large cash sum provided by the ITTES.

“I would personally like to thank every customiser that came, every truck owner or driver that gave up their time to come from interstate to be at the show, and a massive thanks to Prime Creative Media managing director John Murphy for supporting the idea and suggesting having the richest Show & Shine event in the country,” he says.

“Not only did the Show & Shine showcase the depth of quality work that can be done to trucks in Australia, it also served as a visual spectacular for the ITTES crowd. The quality of trucks on hand made it a difficult job for judges and local trucking identities Shirl Mccosker and Kris Baker but they stepped up to the plate and did a tremendous job,” Chris says.

The coveted “Truck of the Show” honours went to Laurie Williams of North Queensland Truck & Machinery Movements with his Western Star Constellation 4800 “Phat Cat” customised by Rocklea Truck Electrical (RTE) and sporting a King Bars bullbar up the front.

Laurie won the major prize, provided by SAF Holland, an aluminium 5th wheel as well as winning the prize for Best Western Star.

The other major prize winner for People’s Choice Truck of the Show was won by the “Devil Dog” a Mack Super-Liner owned by Ross Transport and entered into the competition by Ron and Julie Duncan. Devil Dog also won the honours for Best Mack on the day.

Chris says that most of the trucks on show worked every day and the effort put in to keep them looking good showed the owners and drivers cared about projecting a positive image for the industry.

He adds that there is a list of sponsors that donated in excess of $10,000 worth of prizes that deserve thanks.

“I would like to thank SAF Holland, Mesh Accessories, Atlas Tyres, Windsor Exhaust Centre, Treadcare, Samios Tyres, Hella, Pearl Craft, Zafety Lug Lock, Tool Trucks Australia, All American Custom Chrome, Jake Brake Stubbie Holders, Truck Apparel Australia (Stay Loaded), SLS Group, Baldwin Filters, Drake Collectibles, AP LED Products, Onsite Cameras and Global Truck Imports,” he says. We have a few of our sponsors’ information on the right and below. Please give them a call or pop in and show your support so we can maybe do it all again in a couple of years’ time!
