Jacco Klomp, like most modellers, started off building at a young age and with not many kits available to him at the time.
His first truck was an AMT Peterbilt 352 Budweiser kit which he built with his father at his kitchen table.
Since then Jacco has built the ERTL Rubber Duck kit and scratch built a lot of Australian trucks from other kits.
Finding inspiration from truck books, Jacco found a Western Star 1000 of Porters Livestock.

From here he printed off four pictures he found on Google and got an Italeri DAF 95 cab which was the same cab the Series 1000 stars used for a short period of time in Australia and New Zealand back in the day.
Eventually, after a lot of donor kits and scratch building a chassis for the model, Jacco went on the hunt for a Cummins N14 engine to finish off the correct specifications for the model to be just like the real truck.
Before marrying the cab to the chassis Jacco taped the stripes up on the cab and started to paint it with Motip paints.
Once the paint was dry the bug deflector went on along with all the chrome parts to add more detail to the model.

When it came time to adding the Porters decal, it was hard to find a clear logo for them so Jacco decided to use Woodshoe instead.
Woodshoe is Jacco’s last name in English.
Once the final touches were added it didn’t look enough like a hard working truck for Jacco so with an airbrush, and careful precision, he created a weathered look.

He also designed a backdrop for taking to model shows.
His hard work paid off when his model won an award at a Model Show in the Netherlands in October last year.
Well done Jacco!
