MaxiPARTS completes $11.2 million Air Brake Systems acquisition
Story · October 23, 2026
MaxiPARTS has completed its $11.2 million acquisition of Air Brake Systems (ABS), adding a specialist braking supplier to its national commercial vehicle parts network.
The listed company confirmed completion in an ASX announcement dated 19 October 2026. Under the disclosed structure, 75 per cent of the consideration is payable on completion, with two deferred payments of 12.5 per cent at one and two years, subject to performance conditions.
What ABS brings to MaxiPARTS
Established in 1991, ABS operates from Hornsby, New South Wales, with remote sales and technical personnel supporting customers, particularly on the east coast. The business has around 20 employees, annual revenue of approximately $20 million and average operating EBITDA of about $2.8 million, according to Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia’s acquisition report.
About 60 per cent of ABS revenue comes from brake-kit sales to trailer original-equipment manufacturers. The remainder comes from aftermarket parts, technical service support and telematics. ABS is an authorised WABCO original-equipment brake distributor and also supplies brands including Raufoss, Kongsberg, Knorr-Bremse and Haldex.
National distribution and technical capability
MaxiPARTS expects to use ABS’s product range and specialist technical knowledge alongside its national warehousing and distribution footprint. Opportunities identified by the company include consolidating procurement, broadening braking product availability and strengthening service to trailer manufacturers and aftermarket customers.
MaxiPARTS managing director Peter Loimaranta said the businesses brought complementary product and service capabilities. The company expects the acquisition to contribute to earnings per share from the first year, but those projections remain forward-looking statements.
MaxiPARTS forecasts that ABS’s underlying growth and anticipated synergies could deliver an operating EBITDA contribution of $5.5 million in the 2029 financial year. This is a company estimate, not an achieved result.
What it means for operators and trailer builders
The acquisition could give MaxiPARTS customers access to a wider range of braking products and technical support through a larger distribution network. The scale and timing of any changes to stock availability, servicing or pricing have not been independently established.
