Hino pushes deeper into heavy duty as 700 Series orders surge
Story · October 1, 2026
Hino Australia is reporting a sharp lift in demand for its 700 Series as the manufacturer pushes further into Australia’s heavy-duty truck market.
The company says orders and deliveries for the 700 Series in the first six months of 2026 had already exceeded the totals recorded across all of 2025.
Hino Australia president and CEO Richard Emery said orders in the first half were triple those recorded in the corresponding period last year.
Heavy-duty demand broadens
Hino identified general freight, refrigerated transport, construction, waste management, traffic management and civil works among the applications driving increased interest in the range.
The result matters because Hino has traditionally held a strong position in Australia’s light- and medium-duty segments. Growth in the 700 Series gives the company a larger opportunity in applications where operators may previously have looked to other heavy-duty brands.
The expanded range includes multiple axle configurations and applications, allowing Hino dealers to pitch the 700 Series across a broader mix of fleet tasks.
What ACT will watch
The headline order growth establishes increased demand, but the next useful measure will be whether the momentum translates into sustained heavy-duty registrations and a broader installed fleet.
ACT will also watch which applications and configurations account for the strongest growth as more of the expanded range enters service.
