Announcing the appointments in October 2026, TWAL said the pair bring different professional perspectives and a shared commitment to creating opportunities for women across Australia’s transport and logistics industry.

Hipwood, based in Queensland, is head of marketing and communications at Freedom Fuels. He has more than 15 years’ experience across marketing, corporate affairs and communications in the transport, energy and financial services sectors.

He is also an Australian Trucking Association Diversity Ambassador and has participated in its Future Leaders program, bringing industry advocacy and stakeholder engagement experience to the TWAL board.

Hawkes, based in Victoria, has worked in transport for almost 20 years. She co-founded Tailored Freight and helped grow it from a single-truck operation into a substantial refrigerated transport business employing more than 100 people.

Now working in transport consulting and technology, Hawkes brings experience in operations, safety, compliance and commercial strategy.

TWAL is a member-based not-for-profit organisation promoting participation, leadership, recognition and professional development for women in the transport sector.
