GEODIS adds Volvo FM Electric prime mover for Sydney container haulage

News · October 31, 2026

GEODIS has added a Volvo FM Electric prime mover to its Australian fleet, extending its electric-truck operations into container haulage in Sydney.

The logistics company announced the vehicle on 30 October 2026, describing it as its third electric truck in Australia. The prime mover is intended to carry full containers of Volvo cargo between Port Botany and Volvo’s Sydney warehouse.

GEODIS expects the work to account for about 850 trips a year, or roughly 63 per cent of the truck’s planned operating capacity. The company says the remaining capacity will support its new warehouse at Minto, alongside Volvo’s facility, serving retail and e-commerce freight.

The move builds on GEODIS’s introduction of its first Australian electric truck in Sydney in 2023. The company says the new vehicle will help it assess where battery-electric transport can work in heavier freight applications.

GEODIS has not supplied independently verified operating figures for payloads, achieved range, charging arrangements or running costs in its announcement.
