Cartage Australia says it has established a 10-truck Adelaide operation and grown its Queensland fleet to more than 40 trucks as the business expands beyond its Victorian base.

National operations manager Caleb Vella said in a company update that the growth had taken place over the past 18 months.

Five Queensland service areas

Vella identified the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Ipswich, Toowoomba and Hervey Bay as areas covered by the Queensland operation. He put the business’s national workforce at approximately 300 employees.

The company has not specified how many of those trucks are owned or supplied by contractors.

Vella credited staff, drivers, contractors and customers for the expansion and said the business was continuing to develop its systems, workforce and fleet to support a broader operation.

Cartage Australia specialises in quarry-product transport and related materials services.
